Overview
On October 24, 2024, the China Forum of Veterinary Cardiology 2024 (CFVC) grandly opened in Shanghai, known as the "Magic City" of China. Following the success of the 1st summit, this event once again brought together top veterinary cardiology experts from around the globe to discuss and share the latest research findings, clinical practices, and cutting-edge technologies in pet heart health.

Hosted by Shanghai Hongyu Medical Technology Co., Ltd. and supported by the Shanghai Minhang District Government, the summit aimed to promote the international expansion of local medical device brands and the rapid development of veterinary cardiology both domestically and internationally, providing a high-level platform for international exchange.
The summit featured several renowned international cardiology experts as speakers, including Professor Christopher Orton (Chair of CFVC), Professor Brianna M. Potter from the USA, Dr. Claudio Bussadori from Italy, Professor Gerhard Wess from Germany, Dr. Kyoung-a Youp from South Korea, and Professor Takuma Aoki from Japan.
Highlights

Over the course of three days, participants gained in-depth knowledge about the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of pet heart diseases, covering everything from fundamental knowledge to advanced technologies. Experts provided detailed explanations and answered questions on cutting-edge topics, including the pathology of mitral valve diseases, ultrasound assessment of cardiac remodeling and function, transcatheter edge-to-edge repair, open-heart surgery for dogs and cats, PDA interventional treatment, case selection for V-Clamp surgeries, and clinical practices.

Details
Between sessions, participants had the opportunity for face-to-face interactions with experts, where each lecturer generously shared their accumulated experiences, boosting the confidence of all attendees. This immersive exchange experience not only addressed questions but also facilitated the dissemination of knowledge and shared experiences among domestic and international peers, making the conference an excellent platform for industry collaboration and exchange.

At this year's summit, the transcatheter mitral valve replacement system (V-replacement) developed by Shanghai Hongyu Medical in collaboration with Shanghai Quanxin Medical was introduced to the global veterinary community. The system's advantages—including "firm and stable structure," "easier guidance," "biocompatible materials," "no dynamic outflow tract obstruction," and "suitable for more cases"—garnered significant attention from lecturers and global veterinary partners. With the launch of this new product, we aim to continue leading innovation in the treatment of valvular heart diseases and provide more treatment options for pets worldwide.

Outcomes
Additionally, the summit offered hands-on training for the V-Clamp device, allowing participants to gain firsthand experience in performing mitral valve repair surgeries on dogs. This immersive learning approach of "completing a mitral regurgitation treatment surgery" greatly enhanced participants' clinical skills, helping them stand out in the field of valve surgery.

On the final day of the summit, a unique roundtable discussion enriched the participants' experience with practical content and innovative formats. The global live streaming of the roundtable attracted numerous veterinary professionals from both domestic and international backgrounds, with online viewership exceeding ten thousand, drawing widespread attention within the veterinary community. This not only showcased the summit's broad influence but also reflected the growing social demand for pet heart health.

Discussion
As a pioneer in the field of pet heart health, Hongyu Medical is dedicated to researching pet cardiology and innovating medical device development and commercialization. The self-developed V-CLAMP device is the world's first minimally invasive intervention tool for treating mitral regurgitation in dogs. At the summit's booth, the surgical center and technical team provided answers to queries, sharing the key techniques and challenges encountered during the V-Clamp procedures along with past case studies, significantly promoting the global development of minimally invasive cardiac surgeries for dogs.

With the successful conclusion of the second China Forum of Veterinary Cardiology, we look forward to this event opening new chapters for the development of pet cardiology in China and globally, bringing more innovations and breakthroughs to the field of pet heart health.
Ms. Lingchuan Zhu, Vice President of Hongyu Medical, stated that the China Forum of Veterinary Cardiology is not only a "high-quality, content-rich, and impactful" academic event but also a platform for industry exchange and networking. In the future, Shanghai Hongyu Medical and the CFVC brand will uphold the principles of pragmatism, knowledge-seeking, and exploration, witnessing the robust development of pet heart health alongside global veterinarians and "Made in China" medical devices.
