Overview

On April 23, 2024, Hongyu Medical joined hands with Colorado State University to hold an academic seminar on the theme of Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Mitral Valve Repair in Colorado, USA. The seminar gathered America's leading experts in veterinary medicine as keynote speakers, and more than 30 cardiology scholars and doctors from around the world as attendees to participate in discussions.

Centered around the V-Clamp®️ minimally invasive interventional mitral valve transcatheter edge-to-edge repair technology, Brianna Potter (DVM, MS, DACVIM(Cardiology)), Brian Scansen (DVM, MS, DACVIM(Cardiology)), Shiori Arai (DVM, PhD, DACVS), Bernard Chi (DVM, MS), Lalida Tantisuwat (DVM, MS) from Colorado State University, Emily Karlin (DVM, DACVIM(Cardiology))from Tufts University, Saki Kadotani (DVM, DACVIM(Cardiology)) from University of Illinois introduced TEER preoperative imaging evaluation method, operating room preparation, and the entire minimally invasive surgery process under ultrasound guidance of V-Clamp surgery. Professor Potter and Orton brought the latest preoperative severity assessment methods for mitral regurgitation, shared ideas for treating complex and special mitral valve lesions with V-Clamp®️, and discussed the comprehensive perioperative management of TEER in small animals, common complications and treatment, etc.

Highlights

As a leader in this technology, Hongyu Medical shares its innovative results with the global cardiology community and jointly organized this seminar with CSU in America to further promote the development and cooperation in this field.

Details

At the seminar, the participating experts not only had in-depth discussions on the technology development trends, but also had extensive exchanges on challenges and solutions in technology application, providing valuable experiences and inspirations for further promoting the application and research of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair technology.

The on-site V-Clamp operation teaching and case sharing gave everyone a comprehensive and intuitive experience and understanding of the advantages of V-Clamp®️, such as its simple operation, easy capture, and no extracorporeal circulation or cardiac arrest is required!

Outcomes

The successful holding of this seminar not only deepened international cooperation and exchanges in the field of cardiology, but also laid a solid foundation for promoting the development of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair technology. We look forward to future cooperation and exchanges, and work together to bring better treatment options to canine heart diseases around the world!

This is our fifth year in the canine heart health industry!

Till March 2024, the V-Clamp®️ (mitral valve clamp system) we developed specifically for the treatment of canine mitral regurgitation has reached more than 300 commercial surgeries around the world, and its footprint has spread to more than 30 countries and regions on five continents. The 18 V-Clamp centers (international cooperation medical centers that is qualified and authorized to perform V-Clamp surgeirs) also provide valid guarantee for canine mitral regurgitation treatment in different countries.

Discussion

The new training model brought by Hongyu Medical - "100% immersive practical teaching" makes it easy to learn cutting-edge technologies. It has won the favor and recognition of veterinary experts from various countries in the nearly 50 V-Clamp trainings.

Alexis Santana, a Spanish veterinarian who completed his V-Clamp surgery training in October, 2023, has become a local pioneer in the treatment of mitral regurgitation.

V-Clamp helps accelerate the vigorous development of more and more pet hospitals and diagnosis and treatment centers

Closing Notes

Professor Brianna Potter and Professor Christopher Orton will also come to the second China Forum of Veterinary Cardiology (CFVC 2024) hosted by Shanghai Hongyu Medical this October to give a more comprehensive and deeper insights and experiences sharing and exchange with everyone on some topics of this seminar.

Let us stay tuned to more updates of Hongyu Medical and CFVC. See you in Shanghai this October!
