Doctor Alejandro Artiles Vizcaíno graduated in veterinary science from the University of Cordoba in the Clinical Specialty Medicine and Health. He has got certificate of minimally invasive procedures from Universidad de Zaragoza. He has been involved in general surgery, orthopedics and neurology for over 30 years. He actively attends training courses sometimes as a student and others as a speaker.

Doctor Yamir Reina Doreste graduated from the University of Las Palmas de GC in 2009. He completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Oregon State University (USA) in 2013-2014. From 2014 to 2017, he completed a residency program in veterinary cardiology at North Carolina State University(ACVIM program). He worked as an associate cardiologist between 2017 and 2018 at the University of Glasgow Veterinary School (Scotland) and since 2019 he has been the director of the Cardiology and Respiratory Diseases Service at Hospital Veterinario Los Tarahales.

About V-Clamp
The V-Clamp is the veterinary version of the human Mitra-Clip. It is a small device (approximately 8 mm in length) that is implanted to clamp together the two mitral valve leaflets of patients with myxomatous mitral valve disease to reduce blood leaking backwards through the valve. It is this leak in the valve that results in heart failure in veterinary and human patients. V-Clamp is proved to effectively reduce severity of canine mitral valve regurgitation,and the operation is performed through a small apical incision, which greatly improves the safety of the operation.
