- MERRY CHRISTMAS -

Clinical Presentation
Christmas case sharing:
On the evening of December 18, 2020 Beijing time, Shanghai Shenpu pet hospital completed mitral regurgitation clamping operation in dogs again. A week later at Christmas, let's take a look at the treatment of curly hair~
Curly hair, age 11 years old, weight 7.3kg, preoperative MR vcw: 5 * 3mm, Mr 3 +. Postoperative MR vcw: 0mm, mr0 +. The preoperative peak cross valve pressure difference was 1.8mmhg and the postoperative peak cross valve pressure difference was 2mmhg. There was no significant difference in cross valve pressure before and after operation, and there was no stenosis after clamping.

Follow-up & Insights
Mitral regurgitation is very common in small dogs in the elderly, with an incidence rate of 20-30%. In the United States alone, there are about 7.18 million mitral regurgitation dogs. The occurrence of the disease is related to breed, age and gender. The age of sick dogs is mostly distributed in 5 ~ l 6 years old. The disease rate increases with age, mostly in small dogs and male dogs.
Canine mitral regurgitation has characteristic night cough, night asthma, weakness, exercise intolerance or fatigue after exercise and excitement, prolonged recovery time, severe purple tongue color, syncope and so on. The survival time of dogs with severe mitral regurgitation is only 3-6 months.
The control effect of traditional drugs is general, which can only alleviate symptoms, can not be cured, and the condition will still gradually worsen. The monthly drug cost ranges from 2000 to 4000 yuan. Or valve replacement. The operation is difficult, high risk, high mortality and expensive. At present, only a few teams in the world have completed individual cases, which can not be popularized in a large area.
Shanghai Hongyu medical v-clamp minimally invasive surgery has high safety, small trauma and fast recovery. It does not need cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary bypass. It cuts a 2-3cm incision in the precordial area, punctures the heart and sends instruments to complete mitral valve repair, reduces mitral regurgitation, and provides a new technical scheme for the treatment of canine mitral regurgitation.
